Le Creuset Just Made my Day!


Le Creuset just made my day! A couple years ago, I received a Le Creuset tea kettle as a gift and I loved it! The only problem was that the whistle from the previous model was not working properly and I did not hear the whistle blowing when the water was boiling...so, you can guess what happened. Yup! The tea kettle was scorched and the enamel was burned and started chipping off! It was a mess. I was very disappointed because I thought Le Creuset products had a high tolerance to heat. In any case, I tried to take it back to the Le Creuset store to see if they would allow me to exchange it for a new one. NO LUCK! The lady there examined the tea kettle and said that their lifetime warranty does not cover the enamel. I was very disappointed and thought I was stuck with a burnt, chipped tea kettle.

I did not give up hope though! I decided to email the company directly to see what the customer service department would tell me. A nice lady told me to mail it in with some information (year purchased, name, address, phone number, reason for return, etc.) and they would examine the product to see if the damage was covered under the warranty. She informed that that if they determined that the tea kettle was not covered under the warranty that they would offer a replacement tea kettle at a discounted price. Otherwise, she said that they would mail me a new tea kettle and all I would have to do is pay for shipping my old tea kettle to them. Fair enough, right? So, I mailed it off in January and today, a brand new tea kettle arrived via FedEx! I am so excited and so pleased with their superb handling of this situation and it just makes me wonder why the lady in the Le Creuset store gave me such a hard time about exchanging it!? I'm a huge Le Creuset fan and with customer service like this, I will continue to support their fabulous products!
