Toilet Bowl Tablet = Mini Lesson in Colors

The other day I cleaned the toilet and added a blue toilet bowl cleaning tablet to the toilet tank to help keep the toilet cleaner in between cleanings. I never realized that doing something so simple and mundane could turn into a mini lesson about colors and color mixing.

After Josh urinated in the toilet, he astutely observed that the blue water turned green and the more urine that went in the bowl, the greener the color. I explained to him that the blue mixed with the yellow urine/pee to make green, because yellow and blue make green, just like with his paints and crayons. He just got a huge kick out this, and I was so glad that I dropped a blue tablet in the toilet instead of a white one!
