Hi Mar: Interesting idea someone had to use antique-looking sepia-coloured railway pics for a "Fade Into You" slide show...By coincidence, I just last night came across a line in Hope's lyrics that refers to railway tracks. It's from an unreleased Hope solo song called "Silver & Gold". I uploaded a live version to You Tube from Paris '02 yesterday, & posted lyrics after transcribing them by ear. The chorus goes: "That's all right Nobody really knows just how it goes When we're together Both you & me we never had Those kind of railway tracks movin' us further"
I'm envious you've gotten to enjoy decades of listening to Mazzy Star & Hope, while I was oblivious to her & her talents until just recently (sadly). Btw, I discovered I was way off on the "facts" I wrote in my prior post. In fact, those "new" Mazzy songs they did so many of on that 2000 tour, are mostly Mazzy oldies that never got released. That refutes my theory Hope wrote all those "new" breakup songs about her then likely recent breakup with JAMC's William Reid. Wrong, they're not new.It seems one should do more research before spouting wild theories!
In an earlier post, you mentioned Pandora. I don't know that site from experience, but used to enjoy a site called Slacker that, like Pandora, offered customizable radio stations. I got out of the habit of going to Slacker, but I think I'd like to try a Mazzy Star station there as you've done at Pandora, & see what other artists might get played as being similar to Mazzy.
Re. Mazzy fan sites: there already is a good one at mazzystar.nu. There's lots of good info there, & some interesting discussion in the forum, but it's often slow-moving. Hope has her own official site too at hopesandoval.com with a fan forum, but its forum is even more sparsely used than the Mazzy site's is, for some reason.
I looked at some of the photos in your gallery. I especially like the nice pics of the beautiful countryside of "the Old Country"! -B.
"Om-ma" means "mommy" in Korean. It was one of the three words I remembered as a two year old child. I chose "Omma Moments" for my blog because mothers only have a moment here and a moment there to do things! I wanted to create a space where I could write. Write about whatever I wanted to write about, however I wanted to write and whenever I could write about it! For me, Omma not only refers to me, but to my own mothers: my Korean mother and my mother who raised me. I reflect fondly on the fact that I remembered the word, "om-ma," and I know why I remembered it: mothers are just that important.
I would like to write about any and all moments as a mother, because it is just that important.
